The 4th grade class took a field trip to the new and improved Ft. Worth Museum of Science and History yesterday! New and improved is right. We had a great time and everyone wants to return again next year.
The new museum is spacious and very well organized. There are docents everywhere ready to help and mini-museum schools with everything from digital arts to roller coaster physics and my personal favorite the "Tinkering" section.
I think everyone enjoyed the 4D energy program hosted by Devon. We learned about the Barnett Shale while being chased by a T-Rex (who spit on us, I think) and flying through space and time.
We visited the museum as a culmination of our mystery unit, so the CSI exhibit was our first priority. We divided the classes into 3 groups and started solving our mysteries. Students visited the crime scene, logged evidence, processed their evidence, visited a virtual autopsy and presented their cases to Gil Grissom for approval. We only had time to solve one crime per group, so there is plenty to see before CSI moves on out of Fort Worth.
